What do you think?
I think he needs to lift his sad self out of the dark ages and get over himself just a tad (Ive ALWAYS thought this of him and now my thoughts are CONFIRMED!!)
How dare he, a father of four no less, sit there and POMPOUSLY tell us that he thinks women need to be more discreet when feeding "especially in high traffic areas"...... Is he serious?
He paints a picture that we sit there, boobs spread out for all the world to see...... Shame on him!
HAS HE OR ANY OTHER JUDGER EVER STOPPED TO THINK HOW AWKWARD WE CAN SOMETIMES FEEL FEEDING IN PUBLIC????????
I have had the absolute luck of breast feeding 4 children. At times, it has been wonderful and at others, down right embarrassing! Often there is nowhere discreet to feed. Often I have spied men cop a bit of a sneaky perve! Often I have found myself in a situation where my baby is so beside itself, wanting a feed that if I were hanging off a high speed train, slapping people in the face with my blow away boobs, I WOULD NOT CARE!!!!!! I am a mum and my number one priority is to care for my child(ren)! If I were to let them scream for moments on end, I would be judged for that too!
Here's a shocking solution for you DAVID........

I might add, David. I am a mother to 4 boys. Yep! Aren't I lucky!!! And if any of them grew to be as un-supportive as you seem to be, I would be ashamed!!

Footnote: You think breast feeding boobs are offensive David....... I can guarantee that if we all got our 'post breast feeding boobs' out for you, you would be retracting your opinion!

DeleteViva la breastfeeding women indeed! There can be enough obstacles to navigate when you're feeding your baby (in any way you feed your baby) without the added concern of worrying about the opinions of complete strangers x

ReplyDeleteI've NEVER know a breastfeeding woman to deliberately flash her breasts in public. This debate is ridiculous and it's so disappointing that it's still happening in this apparently enlightened day and age.
ReplyDeleteI will feed my child when he needs feeding, regardless of where I am, or who is about. It is highly unlikely you will see any actual breast during the act, but if you do feel free to, you know, look away!
I read a great article the other day that summed up the outrage perfectly. It's the way his comments basically label an entire group of women/mothers as being indiscreet and not classy. It pisses me off that he labels all of us that have breastfed in public this way because I don't know a single woman who doesn't try to be discreet when breastfeeding in public. Sure there might be a ridiculously tiny minority who might not be purely fro the shock factor (and I highly doubt there is!), but to tarnish the rest of us with the same brush is what pisses me off the most. I try to be discreet for my own comfort and sensibility, not because someone else might be offended. If they happen to look at the exact split-second that I'm getting my boob in or out that's not my fault and I won't be made to feel ashamed for doing something that is so damn important for my baby.
