Thankful Thursday - My Home Town

For those of you who dont know, I live on the Mornington Peninsula.  Its is a beautiful part of the world and is situated just outside of Melbourne, Victoria.

It was about 5 years ago when my family and I moved here, something that we had wanted to do for quite some time but due to my mums illness, we put it off many times.  Eventually, we decided that it would be best for us to relocate whilst my mum was still unwell but what I am grateful for is that she had the opportunity to come and stay many times and experience our new life with us and help create some lovely memories of her in a part of the world that I call home.

I spent most of my life living in the suburbs and although that is perfect for some, I could not bare it and looked forward to the time where I would leave.  As a girl, I always dreamed that I would raise my children by the beach, and Im so grateful that I have had the chance to make that dream come true.

So, why do I love it here so much.......?

Well, on any given day, it is beautiful. Breathtaking in fact.  Even in the depths of winter, with the wind howling and the reliably calm waters in the bay thrashing about, churning up lots of white wash, it is an amazing feast for the eyes!  I love the feeling of community where I live.  Its a rather small town but the people who live here lead big lives and there is so much going on.  You are always greeted with a smile as you wander around the local shops.  It houses THE BEST COFFEE SHOP IN AUSTRALIA (based on my opinion).  It has that 'holiday' feel all the time. I love seeing people walking around in their swimmers with that sun kissed-blissed out look.  I love the surrounding winery's for their beauty and unique style. I love that there is ALWAYS something to do or see, so much beauty to explore. I love that we can go on bush walks and beach walks. I love the buzz that rips through town in Summer and I love it more when Summer holidays end and we return to our sleepy selves,  but most of all, what I adore about my home town is that most people who also are lucky enough to call it home, have this abundant aura of gratitude.  They smile big and wide because they love life.  They love their life and you cant help but join in on this happiness when each and every day it surrounds you....... It is infectious.

So yeah, I am forever grateful to have made my sea change and I will never look back!

What are you Thankful for?

Much love,

  1. Wow those pictures are beautiful. I love living by the ocean, too. And best part about the Gold Coast is the hinterland is not far away also. It's like the best of both worlds. Plus winter...what winter?? It does get cold here but it doesn't last long!

  9. Oh I would be thankful for this place too! I've never been to the Mornington Peninsula, I've always wanted to do the coast drive everyone talks about. I live in hardcore suburbia and.it is a bit soul.destroying at times!
